INEC, BIODUN OYEBANJI THE WINNER OF EKITI ELECTION

 INEC has declared Oyebanji the winner of the gubernatorial race in Ekiti.


 The All Progressives Congress' Biodun Oyebanji was named the winner of the Ekiti State governorship election by the Independent National Electoral Commission.

The election's Returning Officer, Prof Kayode Adebowale, Vice Chancellor of the University of Ibadan, announced the results.

"Oyebanji, having received the most votes, is now proclaimed the winner and returned elected as the governor-elect of Ekiti State," Adebowale stated.

The APC received 187,057 votes to defeat the SDP, which received 82,211 votes, the PDP, which received 67,457 votes, and 13 other parties in the governorship election on Saturday.

The total legitimate votes in the election were 351,865 out of 360,753 cast.

SDP's agent, Owoseeni Ajayi, did not participate.Residents in Ikogosi-Ekiti, Ekiti West Local Government Area, where Oyebanji is from, have also begun celebrating their kinsman's election triumph.

As the results were reported by the individual local government Returning Officers, locals in Ikere-Ekiti, where Oyebanji's running partner, Mrs Monitade Afuye, came from, began celebrating as well.

Some members of the ruling party also hailed the victory in different sections of the state, praising it as well-deserved.

All of the results from the 16 local government areas had been uploaded on the Independent National Electoral Commission's Result Viewing Portal, known as IReV, prior to the release of the results at the collation center, according to our correspondents.
